The Evolution of Homeostasis

Homeostasis is a system of always changing, always malleable, flexible outputs. It's orchestrating them to preserve life. The body has so many different systems running at any one time that it's making more finite adjustments as we go. All the adaptations we look for are very much allostatic processes. In other words, they're not essential for life. If you significantly stress someone while they're under stressful conditions, their development will stop in some cases.
