"I think passing the baton, like you said, is absolutely what it is. It is backwards and forwards because my mom will say now, like, I inspire her," she says. "We may not ever get what we need from the people who raised us, like ever." She adds that a big part of grace and compassion is acceptance for who people are,. where they are, and not trying to change the outcome.
