Allopregnanolone was recently approved by the FDA as a fast-acting and potent antidepressant at even a single dose for postpartum depression. Once you get to dosage levels, which unfortunately is what's usually clinically prescribed, you're getting like a very mixed bag of effects. And if anything is true, is that serotonin is actually higher in depression, then lower.
