Swimming is the one sport that actually will improve your breathing patterns. George dallam has done some research on nasal breathing in athletes. With nose breathing, they were able to achieve 100 per cent of their work rat intensity but with 22 % less ventilation. Carbon oxide in the blood was forty four millimeters of mercury with nose breathing, and it was forty millimeter of mercury with mouth breathing. And the fraction of expired oxygen was less with nasal breathing as with mouth Breathalyser.
