John Petchechoe is a social psychologist and professor at Wake Forest University. His research has shown that people are very, very good at generating these thoughts quite automatically. We're not even aware of it and shaping our judgments and our decisions in a way that we haven't fully explicitly fought out. The more I learned about counterfactual thinking the better I felt.
