The Pharmacodynamic Killing of Antibiotics in PGI

In PGI the joint space can take a long time to sterilize, usually on the order of weeks. A large randomized control trial called the TIPO that was published last year evaluated rates of cure with either six or 12 weeks of antibiotic therapy for PGI. And they found that 12 weeks was statistically superior, and also that six weeks was not non inferior. It's very interesting to me to see the differences in practice between the U.S., where many ID docs are still giving these extended courses in Vankleaf and other places like Europe.
