What Is the Difference Between La and R?
The l sound is made because the tongue narrows to allow the air to flow around it on each side. The various parts of the vocal tract are brought together in a way that they shape the sound without actually blocking the sound or constricting it. If you say words like solve and tilt, you may notice that the tongue never actully touches that ridge behind the teeth.
