How Much Water Do You Need Per Day?

"There is no real good guidelines on fluid intake," says Dr. Sanjay Gupta. "Thirst is a survival mechanism and it doesn't get activated unless you consume like salt or something like that, unless you are anywhere from 0.8 to 2% dehydrated." We lose about 4% of our total body weight per day in water when we don't actually have any perceivable sweat, he adds.
