Functional Overreaching

A, i'm kind of sceptical of the concept of functional overreaching in the first place. A, i think people think it works because you get that performance decrease,. You taper, you de load, you bring that fatigue back down. Over the span of a week or two, you do getting a pretty big spike in performance. But you get a spike in performance from a depressed level. It's probably not better, or all that much better, than it would have been had you not done the overreaching block in the first time.
