This chapter explores the default mode network (DMN), its characteristics, and its role in distractibility. It discusses the balance between the DMN and the task positive network (TPN) for effective focus, as well as how impaired suppression of the DMN and dysfunctional interactions with other networks can contribute to difficulties in maintaining focus.
