How to Own Your Emotions

Sometimes people don't want to own their emotions for themselves. So what I often do, and especially as a mediator, is I own the emotion for them. And so just by their tone, we could say, okay, well, there's clearly some emotion back there. We're not saying that audibly, of course, we're saying that to ourselves. Once you've addressed it, what you'll notice is oftentimes they'll start to calm down a little bit. Then you move into the next stage where you're asking questions with compassion.
