Reverie Is a Self Hypnosis
When you're tired, that adenosine built up in your system. When you move your eyes from side to side, that actually shuts down a brain center called the amygdala,. which is a fear and threat detection center. And it makes sense because when you move forward through space, whether or not you're skateboarding, if it's self-generated motion - this mimics rapid eye movement sleep. Just like if you took a picture on your phone and you moved your phone into blurry image, you'd be hurt and there's a well-known stabilizing phase of our inner ear where we try to keep ourselves safe.
