Hyponatramia - Serum Osmolality
Sodium is our largest osmal, we expect hyponatremic patients to have a significantly low serum osmalality. We check it once to verify that this is the case. Other things to think about if serum osms are normal or high are things like hyper glycemia and alcohol. And remember that true hypo nitremia can coexist with other extra osmols.
