Infective Endocarditis - What You Need to Know
A transthoracic echoc can be used to assess the risk of infective endocarditis. A trans esophageal echoc may also be requested if there is a strong clinical suspicion. The modified Duke's criteria are comprised of major and minor criteria. These include temperature greater than 38 degrees centigrade, predisposing factors such as prosthetic valve or history of intravenous drug use.
