The Purpose of Aristotle's Metaphysics

Aristotle explained how philosophical sciences can be built one upon another. Higher sciences provide the principles or assumptions on which lower sciences are built. Al-Farrabi resists temptation to say that first philosophy is simply the study of God as first cause of all things.
