Are You a Practitioner When Researching the Effects of Meditation?
Most of my studies are informed by my meditation experience, as you say. I can tell immediately whether the person has personal understanding or they came from mainstream cognitive neuroscience and research and meditative practice. It's a little bit like studying visual neuroscience whilst being blindfolded. Someone who is blindfolded will just not have the right idea of what visual experiences and processes make sense to study. And objective in this particular context simply means that I do not have access to that personal subjective experience which doesn't necessarily put one at an advantage.
