32 - Fukuyama’s “The End of History?”
Good in Theory: A Political Philosophy Podcast
00:00
Introduction
Cliff Mark: In the late 1980s, France's Fukuyama was working for the State Department of the United States. He wrote an essay called The End of History with a question mark in which he argues that democracy has won. Cliff Mark: His timing on that argument was incredible, because in 1989, communist regimes were crumbling left and right throughout Eastern Europe. Good in Theory will next interview some authors who think that the end of history may itself be coming to an end.
