The Importance of Understanding

It's a very common feeling for adolescents and adults to feel like their parents don't understand them. It's true in medicine when there's much research that shows that medical care works better when patients feel like their doctors are listening. In the academy, it's very important that our colleagues, the people we're working with, toward the common goal of doing research and educating students and each other.
