The Backward Design Model
Dr Ralph Tyler, in 1949, wrote a classic book on curriculum when he was at the University of Chicago. He essentially articulated backward design through three questions. What do we want students to learn? How will we know that they've learned those things? And what do we do to help them learn it? The idea is think like an assessor before you think like a teacher. It's very smart stuff. I really like it.
