The Negative Effects of IV Fluids on Organ Function in Sepsis

Fluid therapy can result in improved hemodynamics, but excessive fluid administration can cause complications from tissue edema. A high volume of high fluid load may actually cause tissue edema on other sides and such as lung, even heart maybe, or kidneys,. These may result in organ dysfunction. However, it's hard in practice to separate what is actually caused by fluid overload and what is part of the natural history of organ dysfunction in sepsis.
