Zynga's Farmville was the fastest growing game in history, but then it became a fad. What was once unpredictable became very predictable and when something becomes predictable, it becomes boring. Pokemon Go is an example of finite variability where you don't know what's going to happen next. But if they figure out ways to make the experience more variable, that could be good for them.
