I think that culture today has romanticized and fantasized all of this. I just feel like the media around us has sort of romanticized this whole hookup culture. And sometimes the truth is that it isn't quite as romantic as we want it to be. We're still very much a monogamous society. But casual sex or even just like cookups, making out with someone, cuddling someone, doing anything else can leave us feeling kind of empty in a way that isn't always seen in kind of the glamorized movies that we've watched in children.
This week we dive into the psychology behind hookup culture and casual dating in our 20’s. We are joined by the host of The Openhouse Podcast, Louise Rumball, as we discuss the cultural and societal changes that have contributed to this sexual liberation, what happens to our brain during and after a hookup, empowering ourselves through pleasure but also healthy boundaries and the science and personal stories behind why casual dating may not be for everyone.
