The Evolution of Infectious Disease
Most infectious disease is originally zoonotic, it comes from animals with which were in close proximity. Birth rates go up when you switch from being a hunter gatherer to a farmer and probably perinatal mortality. And probably infectious disease arose when we switched to being farmers because you're close by other people so you can spread the disease around each other. We've not really been able to see that for the last 100 years because we have fantastic treatments against infectious disease.
