Is the Urine Dipstick Reliable?
There's actually some interesting data to suggest that the automated dipstick is fairly accurate. But while there's a pretty good correlation, the test probably isn't good enough to ignore low levels of protein on the UA. I've definitely seen cases where plus one protein area turns out to be nephratic range protein area. Anything in the positive range to me warrants a little bit more investigation and quantification.
