Don't Make the Mistake of Writing a Proposal

The first step is matching up the person who needs something with the person who can provide that to them. If there's any reason for them not to hire you, then they really shouldn't hire you. It's a way of doing sales in a way that isn't tricking the other person. And I think if more people recognize that it, it sales doesn't have to be a skeezy thing and actually be running a business instead of just being told what to do all the time.
