It's a conceptual theory that explains how inequities and disadvantages like stigma and discrimination can lead to accelerated declining physical and mental health. In this social safety theory, you're we're all being very, very vigilant. And the brain is perceiving social threat. So we're constantly activating on multiple levels, our sympathetic nervous system which leads to fight, fight, freeze and fun.
