The Long Run Is Not Necessary

Coaches need to be aware when they're adding new stuff and figuring out where it plays. Lydiard said the long run every week is needed because he was doing five days a week of track work in a row. The dose that some one needs to maintain is different based on their individual physiology. It's not just from a lack of exposure to speed but also mechanical, like gonging as fast as you can with lots of rest. And we always want to get away with the minimum effect of dosage. But for other people, that dose can be poisoned.
