The Gut Microbiome Is Modified and Modified
There's very good evidence now that the gut microbiom is supported by the ingestion of particular foods. By ingesting these foods, you're changing the alkalinity, or the acidity, of certain compartments within the gut that allow certain microbioda to flourish and others to not flourish. And thereby modulating the way that brain circuitry works. But this is distinctly different than a direct effect between gut and brain right? This is a slow modulatory kind of background.
