I'm very interested in where people's ethics get them, much more so than I am. And when they're at their best, they will admit that they don't either. The amount we don't know, like we are looking through a pinhole. There is something about his practice, his ethical practice, of creating an idea of God where he is constantly noticing and emphasizing moments of grace. That has allowed him for decades to sit and bear witness and be compassionate inside a level of suffering that is, I never touch. Most people will never come here.
