Insulin sensitivity regulates cholesterol metabolism to a great extent. And in even greater extent than obesity does, according to MetSim study. Study looked at people that do not necessarily have a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes. So they found that cholesterol synthesis is upregulated and absorption down regulated for insulin resistance and type 2 Diabetes.
