The Fundamental Requirement of Neurosis
Anxiety could be considered an approximation of open mind because when I'm feeling anxious, I don't know how things are going to go. So in that sense, there's a sort of lack of certitude on my part. Disembodiment is a requirement of neurosis. As soon as we bring our attention out of our embodied vulnerability, out of our immediate experience, then we're able to start creating a state of mind that serves this basically destructive, avoidant function.
