Shakespeare and the Scorpions

Shakespeare populates his tragedies with animals that are rather different from the animals of the comedies. The scorpion is not a creature native to scotland. I doubt sh Shakespeare himself ever saw one. Different animals can be see as externalizations of different inner qualities. And contemplating the natural realm helps us to know ourselves better.
