The History of Flat Earth

Flat Earthism as we think of it today born and when? Sure. We've actually known for thousands of years that we live on a globe because it's very easy to prove with basic math, with basic observations. But what happened in the mid-1800s was there was this quack political philosopher and quack doctor who started positing that the earth was flat based on his observations on a failed socialist commune. And he built a movement and it's simmered along sometimes underground, sometimes a bit more in the open for more than 150 years now.
