The biggest mistake people make when it comes to leading up to these conversations is that they simply don't take the time, and then the conversation falls apart. A lot of times in the business world we're focused on something tangible, like there's some kind of tangible outcome. But you'd be surprised, a lot of times, when you're having these conversations,. your goal might just be to be heard. They might just want to emote, they might just want a share. And so again, if we get really clear on what it was that we want, what it is that they want, everything else should be aligned to meet those goals.
