Sleep Deprivation and Triathlon Training

Sleep restriction and sleep deprivation have been demonstrated to alter harmonial and cognitive functions. With all the information available, it is reasonable to assume that sleep restriction prior to exercise would consistently hinder exercise performance. A team at florida state university took a group of 17 triathletes who were about to perform a three day ultra endurance, multi day triathlon. They wanted to determine the relationship between sleep duration, sleep quality and race completion time during stage of the race.
