William Henry Shepherd: A Black American Missionary in Congo-Free State

William Henry Shepherd was one of the many missionaries welcomed by King Leopold to Congo-free state. He entered Hampton University in about 1881, a few years later, he went to a Presbyterian seminary. And from there, it took him about two years to be assigned as a missionary.
