What You Feel Is Dangerous, You'll Find

When you are growing up, your brain is developing stories and ideas and beliefs about the world around you. And so your brain will always operate on its better to be safe than sorry. But ironically, as Ames was saying, those protective mechanisms are often the things that hurt us even more. So it's a really difficult thing to sit in that feeling of people hurt me and yet the only way to work through this or something that will help is perhaps by opening up to more hurt. By not being vulnerable, you continue to avoid these feelings.
