The Importance of Self-Distancing
For long-term goals, it is so helpful to divide them into their component parts and then largely forget about the goal itself. When you're present in the moment, your brain isn't thinking about this huge goal down the road and then freaking out about it. I haven't attempted a single like one rap big deadlift since the start of COVID. And after eating dinner, I loaded 400 pounds up on the barbell, didn't warm up and lifted it for a single. That is insane.
