I think when I think about happiness, I often think about Maslow's hierarchy of needs. You know, the needs lower down in the hierarchy must be satisfied before we can attend to the needs that are higher up. And only when we achieve those bottom components of the hierarchy are we actually able to achieve self-actualization and feel completely happy within ourselves. This model I think can explain why happiness can be so difficult to find and why it is sometimes not just elusive, but actually quiteQuite difficult,. you know, it's really hard to be attending to every single aspect of this day in and day out.
How do we explain the feeling where we have everything we could want, but we still feel so unhappy and dissatisfied? In this episode we explore some of the reasons for unhappiness in the face of success and everything we have ever wanted to dispel some of the stigma around sadness, depressive episodes and the normalcy of feeling unhappy.
