The Three Pillars of Mindfulness
The word mindfulness means to see clearly. That's all we're trying to do. We're trying to see clearly so we can respond effectively. And the third element of mindfulness, we have our intention, our attention, and then the third element is our attitude. This is about paying attention with compassion, with kindness,. With curiosity to ourselves, to our own experiences. So when I make a mistake, let's say I yell at my son or I do something I'm not proud of, that instead of shaming and beating myself up, mindfulness allows us to go in, see it clearly, and then bring kindness and curiosity.
