Ajahn Sumedo, an American monk who teaches, says refuge in presence is like this. Whatever's going on, if you want to take refuge in truth, just say it's like this. It's firm and yet absolutely compassion and gentle that you're not trying to negotiate with reality. And in that moment, there comes a tremendous tenderness and presence.
