Are We Giving It More Power Than It Needs to Have?
We can also have influences from our macroculture or our society that make it difficult to express our feelings. I think the big obvious one that many of us live with is your particular race or ethnicity or your gender may have been historically punished for expressing either the wrong emotions or expressing them in the wrong way in particular. And so kind of you can lose access to those feelings by repeatedly being told to shut it down, which then it kind of diverts into other feelings. We don't give it more power than it needs to have.
