In the second paper it's called Rhianodyne Receptor Fragmentation and sarcoplasmic reticulum calcium leak after one session of high intensity interval exercise. What happens is this leads to a calcium leak into the cell during rest periods, for possibly a couple hours and a couple days afterwards. So on the surface this kind of looks like a paradox in that this is a very anaerobic protocol that we're looking at here like 30 seconds all out followed by four minutes rest That's pretty sufficient rest and you're not going to be staying at your high oxygen debt and deficit.
