Traumas Can Leave Imprints on Our Autonomic Nervous System
Life altering traumatic events can leave lasting imprints on our autonomic nervous system which makes us prone to anxiety or prone to dissociation and depression. So, what happens is during traumas, the amygdala very often never learns that the trauma is fully over due to a catastrophic series of events where other inhibitory parts of the hypothalamus of the hippocampus shut down.
