The Effects of Exercise on Intramuscular Fat

Exercised, you're going to get an increase in your intramuscular fat. So what actually happens in that sort of situation? Well, it's interesting. We had two parallel lines of research going when I was in Pittsburgh working with David Kelly to understand the pathobiology of insulin resistance and obesity and type two diabetes. But we knew from the exercise physiology literature that muscle triglyceride was a fuel source for exercising muscle. At least triglycerides and muscle were higher. And this made total sense to us because it's a fuel source. It's almost like glycogen, right? They're storing this fuel source. They want to burn it for exercise.
