You Can't Control Anything That Happens to You in the World
The stoics say you can't control anything that happens to you in the world around you. The only thing you can control is how you interpret and respond to that information in your mind. One of the most famous, and i think the most effective, is the peemptive pessimistic meditation at the start of your day. If regularly people cut you off in traffic and you get mad about it, or if your co worker steals your lunch all the time, begin the day by telling yourself, marcus aurelius would say, i will be cut off in traffic to day. I expect it.
