The Difference Between Tone and Stress Timed
Stress timed versus syllable timed is not a switch. You don't necessarily have to have stress. I've never heard any reduction in any form of Spanish but that may be because my ears are biased or something. If you have a stress accent and you decide that you're going to use stress timing then you need to consider the possibility that vowels will be tortured as accents move.
