Social Performance Badges Are Important to Platform Ecosystems
The platform has motivations for highlighting certain products or sellers, rather than others. And in this work, I wanted to understand okay if a seller receives a certification or a selective promotion how does that then affect their future behavior on on the platform. So what we find is that they indeed adjust their loan portfolio and so they will have a greater share of female borrowers after they get a badge. We also look at some kind of boundary conditions to this effect are there limitations that will lead some micro financing institutions to have a stronger response to the platforms promotion.
