George Lois revolutionized the cover of Esquire using big, bold eye-catching photographs. He did one of Richard Nixon getting makeup put on him and one of Ed Sullivan wearing a Beatles wig. For the 60s, these were shocking. No more cartoon covers. The crazy thing was that Lois didn't even work for Esquire.
