In high school, James' teacher emphasized that students could pick a topic of interest. He picked humor and went to the library on his own; he didn't think about what grade he'd get. Fast forward to college, two quick experiences that were impactful: one was as a water safety instructor for an elective in PE department. The other is being able to teach life-guarding course at your pool because you're certified by Red Cross.
